Bio

Born and raised in Valladolid, Spain, she has been teaching at UofSC since 2001, when she was admitted to the M.A. Program in Spanish as a graduate student.

She came to the US in 2000 and spent a year studying at Mount Holyoke College. She moved to South Carolina in 2001 to attend UofSC and earn a M.A. in Spanish and Latin American Literature. She was on her way to Florida State University in 2003 to pursue a PhD when she was offered a full time instructor position at UofSC, so she stayed in Columbia instead.

Carla is now a Senior Instructor and has taught every Spanish undergraduate grammar course offered at UofSC. She coordinated all sections of SPAN 309 & SPAN 310 for several years, and now, among other courses, she proudly teaches a class on medical terminology in Spanish.

Carla enjoys spending time with her daughter, visiting her family in Spain twice a year, and is looking forward to spending many more years at UofSC.
