Sports Medicine and Athletic Training

Have you ever wondered who runs out to an athlete when they are injured during a sporting event? Do you know who coordinates the health care of your favorite players on a daily basis? Did you guess an athletic trainer? If so, you have identified a key member of the sports medicine team!

But not all athletes play on TV or even wear uniforms with numbers. Athletic trainers are health care professionals who work in a variety of settings, including athletics, and function as a vital part of many health care teams. Services provided by athletic trainers include: injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions in a wide variety of physically active patient populations.

Do you want to know what it feels like to be an athletic trainer for the day? Join us for an exciting day of hands-on experience and introduction to the athletic training profession!
