The Betsy Blackmon Dance Program at USC will present its Student Choreography Showcase, featuring original works by dance students, April 26-27 at Drayton Hall Theatre.
Showtime is 2pm daily. Admission is $15 for students, $20 for USC faculty/staff, military, and seniors 60+, and $22 for the public. Tickets may be purchased online at sc.universitytickets.com or at the door. Drayton Hall Theatre is located at 1214 College St., across from the historic USC Horseshoe.
Associate Professor André Megerdichian and Instructor Christopher Anderson are directing the concert, which spotlights works that have been created and refined by student choreographers during the semester. Eight diverse works spanning ballet, contemporary, modern and jazz styles will be performed. Seven of the works presented have been developed as part of the choreographer’s Senior Capstone project, for which their choreography is tied to research on a specific topic.
Choreographers for the concert are dance majors Sophie Dragomire, Laura Anne Kay, Megan Kelly, Katarina Kendall, Aimee LaRue, Poppy Popovitch, Alina Shaner, and Anna Slade. The concert will incorporate lighting designs by MFA lighting design students Garreth Hayward and Victoria Rickards, and Senior Instructor Eric Morris.
