    Position Description 

    The University of South Carolina Sumter invites qualified candidates to apply for tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2023.  Candidate must be willing and able to teach both lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in Music in both traditional and online settings.  This is a 9-month full-time teaching, research, and service position. Candidates must possess a doctorate in Music from an accredited institution by the beginning date of employment, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory and upper-level courses as needed. ABD candidates meeting the same qualifications will be considered for an interview but must have a terminal degree in hand by the time of appointment.

    The successful candidate must have at least 8 months of part-time experience as instructor of record for undergraduate courses (such as Introduction to Music, Special Topics in Popular Music, and/or Jazz and American Popular Music).

    Courses will be taught face-to-face or online. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours (four courses) per semester. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required. The position requires the academic advising of USC Sumter students. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong commitment to establishing and maintaining professional activity in scholarship and service, as well as to student advising, mentoring, and participation on campus and Palmetto College committees. Starting salary $46,020 or USDOL prevailing wage rate in effect at the time of offer, depending on qualifications.

    The University of South Carolina Sumter is seeking applications for the position of Chief Enrollment and Student Success Officer.  USC Sumter is one of four Palmetto College regional campuses with the University of South Carolina and serves a five-county area in central South Carolina. USC Sumter delivers courses, degrees, and services that enhance employment and cultural opportunities through the efforts of a faculty committed to high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service.

     

    The Chief Enrollment & Student Success Officer is required to provide leadership in the development of a holistic student support model that is adopted across campus, while creatively expanding the outreach and recruitment activities that are integral to the continued evolution and implementation of a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan. This includes an appreciation for the shifting dynamics of today’s traditional and nontraditional student population. This also requires an understanding of how to attract students within these populations to the College, including those who prefer to enroll only in online offerings.

    The Chief Enrollment & Student Success Officer will oversee activities, programs, and initiatives designed to attract and enroll a diverse prospective applicant pool. The Assistant Dean will also ensure that sufficient programs and support are developed and offered to improve student success.

    The Chief Enrollment & Student Success Officer is responsible for the leadership of multiple staff and departments and must be able to work collaboratively with all areas of the College.

    The Chief Enrollment & Student Success Officer reports to the Palmetto College Campus Dean.

     

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

     

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 8 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 10 years related experience.
    • Substantial record (7+ years) of progressively responsible leadership that includes senior-level managerial experience in enrollment management, financial aid and/or academic advising and student success.
      Demonstrable commitment to growth.
    • Proven ability to develop and foster good relationships with both internal campus stakeholders as well as external audiences such as local, state, and national agencies.
    • Knowledge and practical use of policies and procedures related to enrollment management, financial aid, academic advising and student support.
    • An understanding ability to lead adoption in the use of CRMtechnology for both admissions and student and academic support.

     

    Desired qualifications:

    • Five or more years of enrollment management leadership and supervision.
    • Evidence of leading change within an institution of high education.
    • Understanding and success with business development.
    • Understanding of effective marketing strategies and campaigns within higher education
    • Demonstrated leadership and supervision skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to design data-informed, comprehensive outreach / recruitment strategies as well as efficient internal enrollment processes.

    Trades Specialist V, USC Sumter.  USC Sumter has an open opportunity for a Trades Specialist V.  The Trades Specialist V, under general supervision, will perform trades related duties of considerable difficulty requiring a high degree of skill and technical knowledge in specialized trades such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical maintenance.  The position will also assist in setting up for special events, offices, classrooms and buildings. Provide skilled help in the maintenance of the physical plant, equipment, and university fleet.  Must possess a thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems and have knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials used in general building maintenance and construction trades and experience working with refrigerants and chillers; preferred knowledge of OSHA regulations, state and local codes.  Must have the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings and be able to perform minor repairs and conduct safety practices on all equipment.  Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.  Minimum qualifications: a high school diploma and 4 years experience in specialized trades area; or in a diversified building or vehicle maintenance, or construction activity. A universal HVAC certificate (EPA 608 Universal Certification), current South Carolina Class B License and South Carolina Boilers License preferred.  Must be able to obtain passenger and airbrake endorsement within one year of hire date. Salary: 35,360.
