Public Information Director I

Public Information Director I (Director of Marketing and Public Relations), Band 6, $46,259 per year. USC Sumter.  Reports directly to the campus dean and requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material, or equivalency.  The Director of Marketing and Public Relations is a key member of the University Advancement team and manages all marketing and advertising functions.  Qualifications include: demonstrated expertise in computer software required for production of publications and advertising; ability to communicate effectively; coordinate and manage the dissemination of news and information concerning USC Sumter; approve and assist in the design and production of all circulated brochures, pamphlets, posters, and printed material concerning university programs; and serve as campus Web Master and photographer.

Assistant Professor of Statistics

The University of South Carolina Sumter is seeking a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor to teach Statistics to begin August 2019.  An earned doctorate in Statistics at time of appointment is expected, but a doctorate in Mathematics with at least 18 graduate hours in Statistics will also qualify or ABD will be considered for the rank of Instructor.  The ideal candidate would be qualified to teach both Statistics and Mathematics, thus at least 18 graduate hours in each field is preferred.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching lower level statistics classes, such as Introduction to Statistical Reasoning and Elementary Statistics.  Effective communication skills and a willingness to work with diverse populations are expected.

A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and the ability to maintain a healthy level of professional activity in scholarship and service are required.  The teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester, primarily of freshmen or sophomore courses, with the opportunity for release time for scholarship. Student advising and participation on campus committees are expected. USC Sumter is part of USC’s Palmetto College, which involves offering some four-year degrees through multiple forms of course delivery and learning, such as two-way video delivery (videoconferencing) and online learning using the Blackboard course management system. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a commitment to traditional learning environments, as well as the potential for distance and online.

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Area of specialization is open. An earned doctorate in Psychology at the time of appointment is preferred, but ABD will be considered for the rank of Instructor.
