Assistant Professor of Statistics

The University of South Carolina Sumter is seeking a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor to teach Statistics to begin August 2019.  An earned doctorate in Statistics at time of appointment is expected, but a doctorate in Mathematics with at least 18 graduate hours in Statistics will also qualify or ABD will be considered for the rank of Instructor.  The ideal candidate would be qualified to teach both Statistics and Mathematics, thus at least 18 graduate hours in each field is preferred.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching lower level statistics classes, such as Introduction to Statistical Reasoning and Elementary Statistics.  Effective communication skills and a willingness to work with diverse populations are expected.

A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and the ability to maintain a healthy level of professional activity in scholarship and service are required.  The teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester, primarily of freshmen or sophomore courses, with the opportunity for release time for scholarship. Student advising and participation on campus committees are expected. USC Sumter is part of USC’s Palmetto College, which involves offering some four-year degrees through multiple forms of course delivery and learning, such as two-way video delivery (videoconferencing) and online learning using the Blackboard course management system. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a commitment to traditional learning environments, as well as the potential for distance and online.

Assistant Professor of Psychology

The University of South Carolina Sumter is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to teach both face-to-face and online classes, to begin August 2019. Area of specialization is open. An earned doctorate in Psychology at the time of appointment is preferred, but ABD will be considered for the rank of Instructor. 

The successful candidate should have experience teaching such undergraduate courses as Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, and Developmental Psychology.

Maintenance Technician

Trades Specialist IV (Maintenance Technician), Band 4. USC Sumter.  High School diploma and four years directly related trade experience.  Provide skilled, planned and corrective maintenance and repair services including carpentry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing for facilities on the University of South Carolina Sumter campus.  Certification in HVAC, plumbing or electrical. CDL license preferred or expectation to get CDL within 6 months of hire. Ability to develop and maintain strong customer service skills, maintain harmonious working relationship with departmental staff, work independently and maintain functional awareness of typical hazards within the work area. Minimum Salary: $29,754 per year.

Instructor of Business Management

Appointment beginning Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. University of South Carolina Sumter. The University of South Carolina Sumter invites qualified candidates to apply for a non-tenure-track, full-time Instructor of Business Management position starting in August 2018 or January 2019. 

Candidates must commit to excellence in teaching business at the undergraduate level. The teaching load is 9 hours per semester, accompanied by performing the duties of the USC Aiken–Sumter business degree Program Coordinator. The preferred applicant will hold a Master of Business Administration or commensurate business-related master’s degree from an AACSB-accredited institution, accompanied by related professional experience. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain currency in the discipline through professional activity and/or the production of scholarly intellectual contributions in the teaching field of business management. The successful candidate is also expected to engage in service to the institution and maintain high teaching standards.
