I am passionate about mentoring and teaching. I taught for some time, albeit part-time in an adjunct capacity, at one of the technical colleges here in South Carolina, and I definitely enjoy giving back to the next generation. In 1995 I attended U.S. Army Ranger School, the Army’s premier leadership training course. During my time attending the course spent up in the mountains of northeastern Georgia going through Mountain Phase, I was given the best piece of leadership advice by a Ranger Instructor there. Simply put, “Lead from the front, make a decision and stick with it until better information presents itself for you to course-correct, and keep executing on mission because stagnation is tantamount to death in the battlespace!” Over the years, I have refined this advice and have used it to lead and manage professionally.
