ALLENDALE CAMPUS CLOSURE: USC Salkehatchie's Allendale campus will be closed on Thursday, November 21 due to scheduled waterline maintenance by the Town of Allendale. As a result, all Allendale campus, in-person classes on both Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21 will be canceled. Online courses will continue as scheduled. Professors for in-person, on-campus classes will notify students of alternative class assignments. The Walterboro campus will remain open, and classes on that campus will meet as planned. USC Salkehatchie apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding.

Call Me MISTER

USC Salkehatchie, in partnership with Clemson University and USC Aiken, is excited to bring the Call Me MISTER Program to our campus. Our program helps to fulfill the mission of Call Me MISTER by:

  • Increasing the number of SC teachers from diverse backgrounds and experiences . Call Me MISTER™ (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) aims to select and support future teachers from socioeconomically and culturally diverse communities.
  • Recruiting, retaining, and nurturing participants. Call Me MISTER™ is a cohort model, emphasizing networking, leadership, camaraderie, and achievement under the guidance and support of adult advocates.
  • Building the talent pipeline across high need areas . Call Me MISTER™ recruits outstanding future educators for teaching certification in early childhood, elementary, middle level, and K-12 certification areas.

Eligibility

To apply to the Call Me MISTER program, a teacher candidate must enroll as an education major.

Teacher candidate participants in the Call Me MISTER program are largely selected from under-served, socioeconomically and culturally diverse communities.
