Federal Sponsors
National Institutes of Health
The SAM Office strongly encourages faculty to use the ASSIST system for NIH proposals instead of Grants.gov Workspace. Proposal budgets are entered directly into the ASSIST system.
NIH subaward budgets may be entered into ASSIST or may be downloaded and sent to the subawardee for completion.
National Science Foundation
The NSF requires that investigators enter budgets directly into Research.gov. Refer to the Research.gov Proposal Budget and the NSF Budget with a Subaward instructions for information on the Research.gov budget documentation requirements.
Other Sponsors
The generic budget template [xlsx] and the budget template FAQ may be used to create a budget for a sponsored project lasting one to five years. The sponsor's budget form or proposal system may vary. Many sponsors require that the budget be entered into the sponsor's proposal system. This should be addressed in the program guidelines and/or agency policy manual.
