Raquel assists international students with compliance of federal and state immigration requirements. She manages and coordinates immigration compliance and requirements from the federal and state agencies at the University. She strives to help students and others understand the various regulations regarding immigration and student visas. She also monitors enrollment and advises students on exemptions from full-time enrollment, reduced course loads, leaves of absence, special travel needs, change of status I-20 issuance, and transfers out to other U.S. universities.

She was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and came to the USA in 1997 to study English at the English Programs for Internationals. She lived and worked in Abu Dhabi, UAE for eight years prior her return to Columbia, SC in 2008. She has visited several countries in Europe, the Middle East and South America.
