Background

B.S. in Education and Human Sciences 

Katie serves as an integral part of the F-1 advising team. She helps students have the best experience possible while attending classes at USC by advising them on topics such as international travel, full-time enrollment, work authorization, program extensions, etc. She also helps with employment authorization education by providing employment workshops and liaising with campus partners.  

After working as a middle school English teacher in Nebraska for 5 years, Katie moved abroad to teach English in China. She worked and lived in China for 3 years, and this instilled a passion for global travel and working with international students.  While living in China, she was able to tour many places, her favorites being Tibet and Zhangjiajie, and she gained a deep understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture. After returning to America, she wanted to combine her passions for education and international students into one career, and this brought her to the ISSS office at USC. Katie is very excited to start her new journey in South Carolina.
