2027 Garnet Apple Award Nominations Are Now Open

Do you know a colleague who excels at adapting and building upon innovative teaching practices? Are you aware of a highly creative and effective faculty member who develops new course materials, classroom methods or pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning?

Consider nominating them for the 2027 Garnet Apple Award for Teaching Innovation.

Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2027.

About the Garnet Apple Award

The Center for Teaching Excellence offers the annual Garnet Apple Award for Teaching Innovation to honor exceptional University of South Carolina faculty who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to best teaching practices and a record of developing innovative strategies to enhance student learning.

The Garnet Apple Award reflects the university's commitment to encouraging innovation in teaching and learning and enhancing the educational experience for students.

Up to six full-time faculty members each year receive the award. Eligible faculty include those from the Columbia and Palmetto College campuses and the Schools of Medicine in Columbia and Greenville. Garnet Apple recipients are nominated and reviewed by their peers.

Garnet Apple recipients will receive the Garnet Apple at the 2027 Oktoberbest Symposium.
