Communities of Practice

The CTE's Communities of Practice provide opportunities for sustained and deeper engagement with teaching related interests and topics in a collegial setting. They allow for informal conversation and idea sharing among colleagues involved in a particular area of teaching.

Large Lecture Course

Coordinators and Instructors of Large Undergraduate Courses 

In this informal, cross-disciplinary discussion group, participants discuss and share best practices and resources for 1) effective coordination of large undergraduate courses, including logistics, class management, GTA and adjunct supervision, and other issues unique to large course management, and 2) teaching and administration of large introductory courses  The group meets two to three times a semester, discussing concerns, ideas, and other issues, regularly inviting campus offices to contribute to the discussion. Virtual Reality

Virtual Environments 

The Virtual Environments Community of Practice is planning ways to bring 360° video, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality into teaching and learning environments at USC. Meetings are open to faculty, staff and students. To join this group, please email Andy Schumpert at schumpca@email.sc.edu. If you are interested in implementing Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and/or 360° video into your curriculum, the Center for Teaching Excellence has the technology available that you can checkout to get started.
