Courtney Bailey is an Instructional Designer at the Center for Teaching Excellence where she supports educators in creating meaningful, learner-centered instructional experiences. She also serves as an instructor of English in the First-Year English Program at USC and as a Virtual Language Educator with the U.S. Department of State's English Language Programs. Bailey holds a Master of Education with a concentration in Curriculum Design and Instruction and is ABD in a Ph.D. program in Education with a concentration in English Language Learning.
With nearly 20 years of experience in domestic and international education on nearly every continent, Bailey brings a global lens to her work. Her leadership spans teacher training, professional development, educational programming and curriculum innovation, with a strong commitment to reflective practice, equity and intentional instructional design. She focuses on helping educators recognize and respond to the power dynamics shaping classrooms while integrating technology, real-world relevance and critical thinking to meet the needs of today's learners. She endeavors to help educators (re)connect with their purpose and lead with clarity by helping to design learning spaces that are relevant, welcoming, and effective.
