PMP 5th to 6th Edition - Gap Training

Are you preparing for PMI’s PMP certification based on PMBOK 6th edition?  Or a certified PMP who needs to keep your project management knowledge current?  If so, this course is ideal for you.

Closing the Gap between Five and Six

In the spring of 2018, the Project Management Institute (PMI®) updated its Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) from the 5th edition to the 6th edition. This means that the PMP Certification exam, which is based in largely on the PMBOK, has also been updated (as of April 2018) to reflect the new material.  The changes in the PMBOK are not trivial.  There are entirely new chapters, new, renamed and moved processes; and a new emphasis on agile and adaptive approaches.

What this all means is that if you have prepared for certification with the 5th Edition materials (prior to April 2018), and have not yet sat for the exam, then you are not prepared to do well on the test.

To help PMP candidates in that situation, the University of South Carolina is happy to offer a one day Gap-Training class that covers all the changes and differences between PMP 5th edition and the 6th edition.

  • This focused training will review all of the new areas you need to master such as:
  • Knowing how to adapt the application of each knowledge area for agile approaches
  • Tailoring your methodologies based on project complexity
  • Preparing for trends and emerging practices
  • Understanding the expanded role of the project manager
  • Learning how to incorporate all new project plan components
  • Navigating the changes to the PMI Process Framework

Who should take this course?

This class is suitable for candidates preparing for PMI’s PMP certification based on PMBOK 6th edition, as well for certified PMPs who want to keep their project management knowledge current.  Students that successfully complete this course will earn .8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) issued through the University of South Carolina that will fulfill 8 professional development units (PDUs) towards renewing your PMP certification with PMI.

Prerequisites

Participants should have previously completed the PMP 5th edition course.  This Gap Training by itself will not satisfy PMIs requirement for 35 contact hours of project management education required to sit for the test.
