Sarah Ayovi Pace has been named the 2023-2024 Doctoral Student Award for outstanding scholarly, leadership and service contributions.

Each year the College of Social Work recognizes a doctoral student who exemplifies excellence in academic, leadership and community engagement. Pace's exceptional dedication to social work and scholarly pursuits has distinguished her as an exemplary student within the college.

Pace’s accomplishments include her current dissertation work supported by a SPARC grant, focusing on African American older adults' perceptions of technology's role in reducing loneliness. Pace has published in journals and presented at several local, state and national conferences in addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.

Beyond academia Pace has demonstrated service through her volunteer work with refugee resettlement organizations, service as a guardian ad litem and involvement in community organizations and church leadership.

"We are privileged to honor Sarah Pace with this award, recognizing her significant contributions to our program, college and community," said Dean Teri Browne. "Her achievement is well deserved.”
