Network Username Required
Effective December 20th, 2023, all admitted students will have to authenticate with their Network Username instead of VIP ID when logging into university systems such as my.sc.edu. Your Network Username is the first portion of your official university email address (before @email.sc.edu) and is in sync with your VIPID password. You can validate your Network Username at https://myaccount.sc.edu. For more information, visit the Division of Information Technology's Information for Students webpage, which explains how students can log into the university systems.
Prepare for Student Loan Payments to Restart
The COVID-19 student loan payment pause has ended, and student loan borrowers must start repaying their loans October 2023. You’ll get your bill with your payment amount and due date, at least 21 days before your due date. Click here to visit the Department of Education’s website for more information.
Here are some other steps to take before payments resume:
- Log in to https://studentaid.gov to learn about your student loan servicer and update your contact information.
- Contact your servicer by logging into their website or giving them a call. Ask how much you might owe when payments resume, how much your monthly bills could be, and what payment plans are available to you. If you had automatic payments before forbearance, set those up again.
- Ask about an income-driven repayment (IDR) plan, which may lower your monthly bill. You can do the paperwork now, so you’re set in an IDR plan when forbearance ends.
