Lana Cook joined the College of Social Work as a clinical faculty member in 2018. Previously, she served in various roles in the college, specifically as an integral member of the college’s field education office since 2013. During this time she coordinated over 40 professional trainings through the field education office’s continuing education series and was successful in promoting greater access to these through developing online learning opportunities to community partners statewide.
Cook teaches undergraduate and graduate-level field instruction courses, including Field Instruction I and II: Generalist Social Work Practice and Integrative Seminar, Introduction to Field Instruction, and Practicum Seminar. Her teaching interests include field education, professional and resource development, systems analysis, and psychopathology.
Cook has also served as a field liaison to more than 350 students in their respective field practicum agencies. As a field education liaison, she is responsible for monitoring the educational progress of graduate students, including scheduling and attending community partner visits, and assessing or problem-solving issues. She also provides supervision and leads competency-based learning to students as an offsite field instructor.
Cook earned her Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina.
