The MFA Acting Ensemble will present two performances of Mad Love, an original, contemporary Commedia dell'Arte performance, April 19 on the Russell House Patio Stage.
Show times are 2:30pm and 4pm. There is no charge for the performance.
In Mad Love, Jessica, an aspiring actress, loves Jaysona, a hot non-binary dancer she met at a club. But Jessica’s father wants her to marry his personal trainer, Xavier Rodolfo, so she’ll finally move out and stop spending his money. On top of everything, Jessica has lost her phone. Going mad with despair, she begs her maid Colombina to come up with a plan…
This contemporary staging of the 16th Century improvised theatre form Commedia dell’Arte features the classic comic archetypes updated for our time: the young lovers undone by passion, the old men clinging to money, the servants who wreak havoc and save the day. Commedia is a raucous physical theatre form featuring masks, music, and virtuosic ensemble play.
Mad Love is created and performed by the MFA Acting Ensemble: Olan Domer, Dominic DeLong-Rodgers, Didem Ruhi, Deon Turner, Elaine Werren, Elizabeth Wheless, and special guest Talha Karci.
