Research Core Fair 

The March 15, 2024 USC Research Cores Fair showcased the research of students and postdoctoral scholars whose work uses the tools available through the shared research cores that offer resources for use by USC researchers in areas ranging from life sciences, chemistry, engineering and aerospace, to earth, ocean and environment.

GRANT Graduation 

GRANT Graduation annually celebrates the administrative staff in various departments across campus as they complete the GRANT certificate program, a training curriculum designed to give research administrators advanced training in grant-related policies, procedures and activities. The GRANT graduation on May 14, 2024, marked the end of over 40 hours of training and celebrated 18 graduates.

Brain Health Network Sumter clinic ribbon cutting 

The USC Brain Health Network hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its Sumter location on Monday, May 13, 2024, marking the clinic’s formal opening, expanding diagnostic and care services for patients with memory disorders in the Sumter area. 

USC President Michael Amiridis and Vice President for Research Julius Fridriksson were joined by S.C. House Speaker Murrell Smith, state Sen. Katrina Shealy and Prisma Health’s Chief Academic and Medical Officer Dr. Patrice Weiss to cut the ribbon at the Sumter Brain Health Network location.

Completion of the Propel 2023-2024 cohort

On April 3, 2024 the 2023-2024 Propel Research Mentorship Program cohort celebrated the end of the annual training cycle. This year set a record number of participants from across the university’s research community expanding the number of faculty who have completed the program and gained a strong  grant proposal toolkit that will serve them for years to come. The Office of the Vice President for Research anticipates continued growth of the program in the coming year.
