The 2024 NSF CAREER Bootcamp for July Submissions

The Office of the Vice President for Research would like to announce the 2024 NSF CAREER bootcamp, beginning at the end of January and running through June with the aim of having participants submit for the July 2024 CAREER deadline. Complete details about NSF CAREER, eligibility criteria, application instructions, and more, can be found here. Faculty from all USC campuses who are planning to submit a CAREER proposal in July 2024 are encouraged to participate in the bootcamp, this includes first time submitting awardees and resubmissions. The sign-up deadline for the bootcamp is Friday, January 19, 2024. To register for the bootcamp, fill out this form. NIH Workshop for Grant Proposal Resubmission

The Office of the Vice President for Research will offer a two-hour workshop on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant proposal resubmission process on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 9:30 am – 11:30 am, in the Close-Hipp building, Lumpkin Auditorium (eighth floor). A light breakfast and coffee will be provided. This workshop will help USC faculty members who are considering resubmission understand the strategies, rules, and processes involved in revising and resubmitting an NIH proposal. Topics covered will include understanding the summary statement, responding to reviewer comments, and revising the proposal. Please register here by Thursday, January 4, 2024. 

 

Input requested - Pilot NIH DMS Plan Templates 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) are piloting two new Data Management and Sharing Plan templates. They request that NIH researchers test these templates during the DMS Plan creation process and submit feedback. The pilot aims to mitigate the administrative burden associated with developing Data Management and Sharing Plans and increase consistency in plan requirements across the agency. New Open Access Agreement allows free publication for scholars 

University Libraries has announced a significant new Open Access agreement between the University of South Carolina and Sage which will go into effect January 1, 2024. The new agreement will allow authors affiliated with USC Columbia to publish free of charge in more than 900 subscription journals. This opportunity is open for faculty, postdocs, undergraduates and graduate students. For more information about this change, read the article on the University Libraries website

 

Research Core Fair

The annual USC Research Core Fair is returning in March of 2024! The event will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 in the Russell House Ballroom. Submission details for presenters and registration dates to be announced soon.
