Don’t forget: Workshop on applying for NEH and NEA grants tomorrow
The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to partner with the Humanities Collaborative to offer a 90-minute workshop on the administrative and technical aspects of applying for funding through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The workshop will feature a brief overview of the agencies, proposal components, etc., presented by a representative from the Office of Sponsored Awards Management, followed by an informal Q&A session with faculty members who have received funding from the NEH and NEA. The NEH and NEA Workshop will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 1, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Gambrell Hall, room 250. Faculty members and graduate students are welcome to attend this workshop session, with no registration required.

There is just one more day to sign up to serve as a reviewer or volunteer to support Discover UofSC on Friday, April 22, 2022. We encourage faculty, staff, students and postdocs to sign up today!
- Reviewers: UofSC and Prisma Health faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate students and UofSC alumni (as well as others who are personally invited by Discover UofSC organizers) are eligible to serve as reviewers or judges, for presentations at the event. Register to serve as a reviewer by tomorrow, Friday, April 1.
- Volunteers: UofSC and Prisma Health faculty, staff, postdocs, undergraduate and graduate students and UofSC alumni (as well as others who are personally invited by Discover UofSC organizers) are eligible to serve as volunteers. Volunteers receive a free boxed lunch, and can serve for as little as an hour or two, or the whole day. Register to serve as a volunteer by tomorrow, Friday, April 1.
The Carnegie Foundation and ACE share more on their plan to incorporate social mobility and racial equity into the Carnegie classifications
Tim Knowles, president of the Carnegie Foundation, and Ted Mitchell, president of the American Council on Education (ACE), recently discussed their new partnership and why the time is right to refresh the Carnegie classifications with Inside Higher Ed. The conversation explored their plan to add a significant focus on whether and how much colleges and universities contribute to social mobility and racial equity, potentially by creating an entirely new classification that would sort institutions by the degree to which they are engines of mobility and equity.
