Dr. Richard Youle receives the Distinguished Alumni Award for research on Parkinson’s disease

Headshot of Richard YouleRichard Youle earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Biological Sciences in 1977 and has since developed a distinguished career in biomedical research. Research from his laboratory at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, part of the National Institutes of Health, has identified novel mechanisms for the causes of familial Parkinson’s disease. This research was honored with the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.

The College of Arts and Sciences will honor Dr. Youle with its Distinguished Alumni Award on September 29, 2022, for his outstanding contributions to biomedical research. Additionally, Dr. Youle will present the Tony and Louise Huang Invited Seminar on September 30, at 2:30 p.m. You are invited to attend the seminar in Coker Life Sciences room 005, or stream Dr. Youle’s live presentation online.
