Congratulations to Dr. Rekha Patel for her successful acquisition of a $50,000 grant as part of the UofSC Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) on Dietary Supplements and Inflammation funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). Dr. Patel's project titled "Dietary supplements to suppress PKR regulated pro-inflammatory pathways" will seek to identify one or more NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitors that will work in combination with the flavonoid luteolin to control inflammation, which can be further developed as dietary supplements for a range of inflammatory conditions.
