Dr. Bert Ely named a fellow of the AAAS!

AAAS Fellows are elected each year by peers serving on the Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a prestigious association that seeks to advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people.  The title recognizes important contributions to STEM disciplines, including pioneering research, leadership within a given field, teaching and mentoring, fostering collaborations, and advancing public understanding of science. 

Dr. Bert Ely, professor in the Department, has been recognized for his distinguished contributions to biological sciences and genetics, and in particular for the development of Caulobacter as a model system for a segment of the bacterial kingdom that’s now used by nearly 100 laboratories worldwide.
