Dr. Speiser and his lab published a research article on spatial vision of chitons in the Journal of Experimental Biology. This article presents evidence for spatial vision in C. tuberculatus, a chiton with eyespots and decribes that chitons with eyespots (e.g. C. tuberculatus) and chitons with eyes (e.g. A. granulata) may use spatial vision for different tasks, i.e. orientation to static cues versus distinguishing between the appearances of overhead objects and uniform changes in light levels.
