Anne Marie is from Sumter, and graduated from Sumter High in 1990. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from College of Charleston in 1993, and graduated with a Master's degree of Education in School Counseling from the University of South Carolina in 1995. She has 10 years of School Counseling experience in Sumter School District, where she has worked with students from preschool age through 8th grade.

Anne Marie is married to Trey Howell, who is a pharmaceutical representative. They have 3 children, Rhett, Bella and Jacob. She enjoys watching her kids compete in cross country and track meets, and attending her daughter's chorus performances. She enjoys reading, trips to the beach, and especially enjoys reading on the beach. The family attends Church of the Holy Comforter, and Crosspoint Baptist Church where Trey is a Sunday School teacher. Anne Marie is very happy to join the USC Sumter family as a Counselor for the Opportunity Scholars Program.
