Edwards named associate vice president for student life

Anna Edwards has been named associate vice president for student life in the University of South Carolina Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support.

Edwards will lead the Department of Student Life, which includes athletics tickets for students; campus recreation; fraternity and sorority life; multicultural student affairs; off-campus living and neighborhood relations; parent and family programs; the Russell House University Union and its associated programs, including leadership and community service; and student media.

She has served as interim associate vice president for student life since July 2017, while Student Affairs and Academic Support conducted a national search to fill the position.

“Our review of a number of outstanding candidates from across the country reinforced our confidence in Anna’s exceptional qualifications, skills, talents and vision for the university’s future in creating a superior student experience in an optimal learning environment,” Vice President for Student Affairs Dennis Pruitt said.

Edwards joined the Department of Student Life in 2005 and has held positions of increasing responsibility. As the current director of student services, she leads fraternity and sorority life, off-campus student services and substance abuse prevention and education.

She earned a doctorate in educational administration and a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and speech and communication studies from Clemson University.
