Anna Edwards leads the Department of Student Life in advancing student success and the student experience through services and facilities that enhance leadership development, diversity and inclusion, community engagement and personal wellness. This work is done strategically and intentionally through the units that report to Student Life including fraternity and sorority life; Garnet Media Group; leadership and service center; multicultural student affairs; parent and family programs; the Russell House University Union and its associated programs, including Gamecock Entertainment; spiritual and religious life; and student government. 

Edwards leads the collaborative activities that support commencement exercises and serves as chair of the university’s Honors and Awards Commission, chair of Religious Affairs Committee and secretary of the university’s Board of Student Publications. She has served as a member of the university’s Strategic Planning Group, and the Campus Event Management Team. Additionally, she has served as a member of the university's Social Compact Committee, founding member of the Carolina Community Coalition, member and co-chair of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support Professional Development Team, and as Student Life's representative on the division’s Planning, Assessment and Innovation Council. In addition, she teaches University 101. 

Edwards earned her doctorate in educational administration and master's in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's in political science and speech and communication studies from Clemson University. She is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Institute for Management and Leadership in Education and Crisis Management in Higher Education program.



Provides support, guidance and mentorship for the 48 Greek organizations and their 6,500 members.

Equips students to positively impact their communities through involvement in student organizations, leadership development, service and civic engagement.

Supports an inclusive campus environment by providing educational and social programs and supporting and advocating for historically underrepresented student populations.

Serves as the central resource for parents and families of Carolina students. Parent and Family Programs offers informative communications, including a monthly newsletter and award winning mobile-app, and coordinates the annual Family Weekend.

 Religious and spiritual life at USC comes in a variety of options — from Religious Affiliates supporting students' spiritual needs, to religious centers near campus, to faith-based student organizations.

Student Government works closely with university administration and faculty and staff members to represent the interests of students, preserve and protect the traditions at South Carolina and support students and student organizations in their academic and community endeavors.


Provides opportunities for students to get hands-on experience in print, broadcast and online media; advertising sales; and graphic design through The Daily Gamecock newspaper, Garnet & Black magazine, SGTV and WUSC-FM.
