Student Life

It is important to find a sense of belonging in your new community. There are hundreds of organizations to choose from at the University of South Carolina, both campuswide and within the IAP. Find out how to get involved during your International Student in the University course.

Face to Face

Building relationships within the local community has never been easier. This group connects international students with domestic students who are excited to learn more about their language and culture. IAP students also benefit from the diverse global culture within the program, by building friendships with each other.

Participate in exciting events on and off campus:

  • Back-to-school party
  • Trip to the State House
  • Columbia International Festival
  • Volunteering at the Congaree National Park, and other community service opportunities

Student Advisory Team (SAT)

A body of IAP students dedicated to helping the IAP staff, this team provides helpful feedback in order to improve the student experience.

Some of the benefits of being an SAT member:

  • Boost your leadership, public speaking and organizational skills; it's a great résumé builder.
  • Make a difference in the IAP for you and your peers.
  • Become a member of a diverse community of engaged students.
