2019 INK! Conference Another Tremendous Success

English Students Present Superb Critical and Creative Work

INK!, the Undergraduate English Association of UofSC, held its annual conference on April 5, 2019, with 22 students presenting critical and creative work. Thoughtful academic panels on topics of trauma, identity, and agency discussed texts from Shakespearean plays and Arthurian literature to modernist and contemporary writing by authors such as Junot Díaz and Buchi Emecheta. Creative presentations featured compelling short stories and poetry collections.  Find the full list of presenters and moderators, and more photos, on INK’s Facebook page.

English Professor Federica Clementi gave a keynote speech entitled “The Human Stains: Connecting Genocide and Ecocide for a New Philosophy of Caring.”

Winners of the 2019 INK! awards include John Huylu, taking first place in the academic essay category, Grace Riley in second place, and Hannah Quire in third place.

Victoria Krivo won the creative writing category.

Many thanks and congratulations to Susan Swavely, Michaela Reilly, Lilly Heidari, John Huylu, and Alex Kroll for organizing and advertising this conference!
