We study the structure, function, development, origin, evolution and diversity of living organisms from molecules to ecosystems to better understand the world we live in. Our research spans the full range of organisms (prokaryote and eukaryote, plant and animal, invertebrate and vertebrate), levels (genetics and biochemistry to physiology and development to ecology and environment) and evolutionary scales (population to phylum).
