Research

Dr. Lewis is an evolutionary biologist who is broadly interested in adaptive evolution and antagonistic species interactions. His research utilizes a combination of field work and experimental evolution with microbes to investigate the evolution of host defenses, the persistence of microbes in the environment, and tradeoffs associated with the evolution of virulence and resistance. Model organisms used include bacteriophages, Caenorhabditis elegans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Serratia marcescens. He also has an interest in bioethics, particularly around responsible conduct of research, science outreach, and the regulation and implications of future technology.

Dr. Lewis will begin recruiting research help in Spring 2025!
