The Salkehatchie Impact
For Emily McLeod, USC Salkehatchie was more than just a place to earn a degree—it was a community that built her confidence. By fostering both personal and professional growth, Salkehatchie provided an environment where Emily felt supported every step of the way.
"USC Salkehatchie changed my life by giving me confidence in myself and preparing me for my future career in education. I was surrounded by people who believed in me from the very start."
A Support System Like No Other
Success in the classroom requires more than just hard work; it requires a network. Emily attributes her success to her family, friends, and a faculty that truly goes above and beyond. At Salkehatchie, the commitment to student achievement is a team effort.
-
Going the Extra Mile: Emily found that if she struggled with a concept, the faculty worked together to ensure she mastered the material.
-
Lasting Connections: The friendships and professional support Emily gained have shaped her into the educator she is today.
What’s Next for Emily?
The future is bright for this 2026 graduate. This summer, Emily is gaining hands-on experience at a local daycare while preparing her very first classroom.
Starting in August 2026, Emily will begin her career teaching second-grade math in Hampton County. Her journey doesn’t stop there—she is also beginning her Master’s in Educational Leadership at USC Aiken this June.
Emily’s Advice for Future Salkehatchie Students:
"Get involved early, make connections, and do not be afraid to ask for help. I’ve been at both campuses and loved them. Enjoy every moment, because your time in college goes by faster than you think!"
