FAQs
Submit documentation that states the documented medical diagnosis as well as a list of foods you are unable to consume. This allows our dietitians and chefs to go through and see what appropriate modifications can be made.
You will follow same process, but your orientation will take place with dining staff from your house corporation. On the meal plan application , you will have the option to select "Greek Meal Plan".
We recommend reaching out to your property manager and house chef as the next part of the process to discuss if their team can provide reasonable accommodation(s) based on your restrictions. While you are doing that, you can simultaneously submit an FSL meal plan change request. There are instructions linked here, that walk you through how to complete that through the housing portal. Please note that there are deadlines for submitting it through this portal every semester.
If you happen to try and submit a request and the portal shares that it is closed, please reach out to your property manager and house corporation directly to submit that request. Once they have decided, they will share their decision with the FSL office for any account adjustments.
If you have any additional questions, I recommend reaching out to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life office at sagreeks@mailbox.sc.edu or giving them a call during business hours using 803-777-3506.
No, the meal plan modification or accommodation process is for students with a documented medical diagnosis. If your request is not based on a medical diagnosis, we suggest reviewing Carolina Food Co. website to review the variety of food options on our campus or connecting with the Registered Dietitian to discuss your diet choices.
You may directly reach out to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life contact, Alysha Croswell at ALYSHAC@mailbox.sc.edu if you are in Fraternity/ Sorority Life, or the Carolina Card office at carolinacard@sc.edu for the University Dining Plan.
You do not need to complete the Meal Plan application.
The university does not grant accommodations solely on the recommendations of care providers, but on the documented functional limits posed by the student's condition.
