Requesting Housing Accommodations

Students seeking housing accommodations should follow the SDRC application procedures, beginning with the application and submitting appropriate documentation.  SDRC will work with University Housing and students to explore and recommend housing accommodations due to a medical or psychological diagnosis/disability in an effort to ensure access to this aspect of university life. 

How to Request

Students seeking housing accommodations should follow the SDRC application procedures, beginning with the application and submitting appropriate documentation.  Requests for housing accommodations  are processed in the order they are received. Requesting housing accommodations (submitting an application and documentation) through SDRC is a different process than applying for and securing housing through University Housing. Submitting requests for housing accommodations beyond the housing application dates specified by University Housing may limit the availability of housing options.  

Late Requests

University Housing will consider late requests and make a good faith effort to provide reasonable accommodations for applications submitted beyond the deadline date, however, University Housing may not be able to guarantee that appropriate residential provisions will be completed within that semester.  Submitting requests for housing accommodations beyond the housing application dates specified by University Housing may limit the availability of housing options.

Housing Accommodation Approval

Students must meet with an SDRC Coordinator to discuss their request for housing accommodations to ensure that appropriate and reasonable access is provided. Once approved, the SDRC Coordinator will notify University Housimg of the approval. Students will then need to speak with University Housing staff to determine available housing options, and any necessary next steps.
