Reserve Space

The Russell House offers a variety of spaces for your organization or department to reserve. Host a quick planning meeting, pop in for your weekly reservation or even plan a banquet with our Event Services teams. Many of our rooms can be customized; all you need to do is indicate your space needs when making your reservation.

For Student Organizations

The process begins with the Russell House Space Lottery. 

  1. Log in to 25 Live with your organization’s network ID (that’s your email without the @mailbox.sc.edu) and password. 
  2. Look for the ‘Create an Event’ button in the middle of the screen. Fill out the web form completely and click 'save'.
  3. We review each request and will get back to you within three business days. If you need to make a change to your request or have any questions in the meantime, you may contact the Russell House Event Services Office at sareserv@mailbox.sc.edu or call 803-777-7127.

 

For University Departments

The process begins the day following the Russell House Space Lottery.

  1. Log in to 25 Live with your UofSC network ID (that’s your email without the @mailbox.sc.edu) and password. 
  2. Look for the ‘Create an Event’ button in the middle of the screen. Fill out the web form completely and click 'save'. If you do not see the ‘Create an Event’ button, please contact Russell House Event Services Office at sareserv@mailbox.sc.edu or call 803-777-7127 so we may walk you through the process of getting an authorized requestor account.
  3. We review each request and will get back to you within three business days. If you need to make a change to your request or have any questions in the meantime, you may contact the Russell House Event Services Office using the aforementioned contact information. 

 

Changing or Canceling a Reservation

Once an event is requested, only the Event Services office may edit that request. If you need to make any changes or cancel an event, please let us know.

The Student Organization Space Lottery is held once each semester. It is the first opportunity for registered student organizations to request Russell House space for the upcoming semester. Please keep the following information in mind as your organizations prepares for the space lottery:

  • Online Registration: Participation in the lottery has grown SO large that, in order to reduce on-site wait times, we deploy an online registration system.  
  • To register, please visit our profile (‘Russell House Event Services’) in Garnet Gate and search ‘Events’ for the “Russell House Space Lottery”.
  • You may make up to three appointments during the lottery.
  • Assigned times to book space: Once registered, we will randomize the order of student organizations, then contact you with a time to report to our office in Russell House Suite 218 and officially reserve space for your event.
  • At each lottery appointment, you may reserve ONE large space (i.e. RH Ballroom, Theater, whole of Greene St.) and ONE small space (i.e. space for weekly or recurring meetings, a space for recruitment meetings, single Greene St. tabling, etc.).
  • ANY member of your organization may attend your assigned lottery appointment; it is not restricted to officers exclusively. Advisers may attend.
  • Please only sign up for appointments you plan to attend. Signing up for an appointment that you’re not planning on attending throws off the randomization process and prevents other organizations from obtaining space. If your organization misses an appointment, this will be taken into account during the randomization process of the next space lottery.

Requests for academic space from student organizations will not be accepted until two weeks after the first day of classes. Any requests submitted prior to this date will be declined and must be resubmitted. For more information contact Russell House Event Services at 803-777-7127 or stop by Russell House Suite 218.
