New staff additions to the Carolina Grants and Innovation Hub will streamline and enhance grant proposal processes 

The Office of the Vice President for Research is excited to introduce the Carolina Grants and Innovation Hub. Under the guidance of Emily Devereux, DPA, executive director of research development, the CGI hub will provide research development services for both faculty and research administrators. The growing research support team includes Vanessa Nelson-Reed, Ph.D., Tyshawna Cleveland and Hannah Cambre.

New Monthly Grant Awards Report: October 2024

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to share our monthly report listing new grant awards USC faculty researchers across the university system received between October 1 and October 31, 2024. Please note that some awards received toward the end of that period might have missed the reporting cut-off. In such cases, the award will be listed in the next monthly report. USC system faculty: Apply for a RISE grant to support your summer research

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to invite proposals for the 2025 RISE program. The Research Initiative for Summer Engagement program, known as RISE, provides funds for summer research to faculty members working at USC Aiken, Beaufort, Upstate, and Palmetto College campuses. Please see complete details and RFP on the RISE website. Applications for RISE are due via USCeRA by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

 

ASPIRE program seeks 2025 faculty research proposals

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce the 2025 ASPIRE funding program request for proposals (RFP). This program bolsters USC’s research excellence with funding for faculty to develop innovative research projects leading to the pursuit of extramural funding, emphasizing support for early-career investigators. Visit our website for complete details about applying for ASPIRE. ASPIRE 2025 applications are due via USCeRA by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

 

2nd Annual Graduate Student Data Visualization Competition

The University Libraries is once again sponsoring the Graduate Student Data Visualization Award during the 2024-2025 academic year. This competition is designed to:

  • Highlight research by current University of South Carolina graduate students.
  • Celebrate excellence using data visualization to encourage and enhance knowledge explanation and comprehension.
  • Promote data literacy and effective data visualization creation and presentation.
  • Encourage awareness of data literacy services and resources provided by the University Libraries.

The Graduate Student Data Visualization Award offers USC graduate students the opportunity to show off their skills using data visualization in their research. Submissions will be accepted any time between Monday, October 7, 2024 and Friday, January 3, 2025. A first-place award up to $1000 is possible with second and third place awards also possible.
