In 2012, after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Joseph Kendrick moved to Columbia, SC to further his studies at the University of South Carolina. In 2015, following the receipt of a Master’s of Fine Art in Sculpture, he continued to work closely with the South Carolina state art collection and many other programs and events at the SC Arts Commission. Taking on work at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art, he grew a reputation around the state as a dependable art handler and installer. In late 2017, due to his excellent work ethic in crossover arts projects in the local arts community, he was offered and took a job with the arts non-profit Columbia Music Festival Association (CMFA).

After being elected to the Vista Guild Board of Directors, he has made growing and maintaining the creative character of the Congaree Vista a priority through various events and projects. In 2025 he formalized his art handling business and created Carolina Art Services, an all-inclusive art handling business. A year later, in 2026, he took a position at USC as the 3D Workshop Manager within the School of Visual Art and Design.
