School of Visual Art and Design

Beyond the Classroom

Our students are artists, teachers, and researchers. The experiences they have outside of the classroom are as important as what they learn inside of it. We provide opportunities for our students to teach, show their work, study abroad and more. We're proud that our department and students are such an important part of the arts community here in Columbia.

We encourage people from the UofSC community and the public to come to campus. Join us for an exhibition, attend a visiting artist workshop, or send your children to our Young Artist's Workshop! We're proud to be a resource and we welcome you to join us.

We have two galleries on campus, open to the community, and an off-campus studio inside of Stormwater Studios. Our galleries host exhibitions by students and faculty, Artists-in-Residence, and visiting artists.

Study Abroad

Join us for one of our trips abroad led by our faculty members. Exploring art abroad can enhance your degree and experience at the University of South Carolina.

Visiting Artists and Scholars

Each year, the School of Visual Art and Design invites artists and scholars from across world to discuss their work and practice through presentations and workshops.

Young Artist's Workshop

Our Young Artist's Workshop is an after school art-making program for students ages 5 - 15 years old. Register your child!

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
