Biography:
Carl Sweat IV, MA, is a 5th year PhD Candidate studying 20th century British literature and Marxist theory with additional interests in feminist
theory. Sweat is currently writing his doctoral dissertation, which analyzes the role
of working-class women in bildungsromane set during the General Strike of 1926 and the Miners’ Strike of 1984/5. In 2017,
he presented a conference paper during the Conference on John Milton, held by the
University of Alabama at Birmingham.
