Our campus is an award-winning urban forest with nearly 6,000 trees. We take great pride in preserving our historic grounds.

The Tree Campus USA recognition is awarded by The Arbor Day Foundation.

 

Earth & Ocean Preservation

School of the Earth, Ocean and Environment

Students and faculty in this school focus on fostering a better human relationship with our Earth’s diverse environments through research, education and community outreach.

Marine and Coastal Sciences - The Belle W. Baruch Institute

This institute focuses on improving the management of marine and coastal environments, and our relationship to them, through research and education.

Department of Geography

As geographers, we pride ourselves on undertaking research that helps to solve pressing problems and that provides critical insight into complex social and environmental phenomena.

Carolinas Integrated Sciences and Assessments

CISA is supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program. CISA researchers work with stakeholders across South Carolina and North Carolina to incorporate climate information into water and coastal management and related decision-making processes.

International Center of Excellence on Big Earth Data for Coasts

ICoE-Coast is a joint program between Department of Geography at USC and Hainan Key Laboratory of Earth Observation, Sanya, China. It is one of eight ICoEs established through the International Digital Belt and Road (DBAR) Science Program (Pakistan, Italy, Morocco, Zambia, Thailand, Finland, and Russia, and USA/China). The interdisciplinary and international team aims to conduct productive research on Big Earth Data and applications for coastal observation, adaptation and disaster management.
