Bio

Larry joined the Office of Sustainability in July 2019 after seven years managing the University of South Carolina’s waste and recycling program in the Facilities Department. Previously Larry was the Executive Director of the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy in Chattanooga, TN where he worked on a variety of land conservation, water quality restoration, trail & greenway development, and environmental education projects. Larry has been an active member of the collegiate sustainable materials management community for many years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the College and University Recycling Coalition (CURC), a national organization that represents a vibrant community of waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability professionals in higher education, since 2015 and served as Board Chair 2016-2019. He is also a member of the Collegiate Recycler's Coalition of North and South Carolina. Larry is excited to promote the adoption of sustainable practices across campus.

Larry earned his BA in English from Sewanee: The University of the South and did postgraduate work in Geology and Hydrogeology at West Virginia University. Larry enjoys DIY upcycling projects, the great outdoors, and spending time with his growing family!
