The USC Brain Health Network Hosts Ribbon Cutting in Sumter
The USC Brain Health Network hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its Sumter location on Monday, May 13, 2024, marking the clinic’s formal opening, expanding diagnostic and care services for patients with memory disorders in the Sumter area. The celebration drew noteworthy supporters, including Murrell Smith, the Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, SC Senator Katrina Shealy and USC President Michael Amiridis.

The Brain Health Network operates with a mission to enhance patient diagnosis and care, and improve access to brain health services in the state of South Carolina. By targeting underserved communities across the state, the network will provide quality diagnostics and care support for patients, caregivers and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Open Access Publishing in De Gruyter Publications Now Available to USC Columbia-Affiliated Authors
USC faculty and students have new opportunities to publish their work at no cost thanks to an agreement between University Libraries and De Gruyter to provide open access publishing and reading access to USC Columbia affiliates. De Gruyter, a leading independent academic publisher, publishes books and journals across 30 subject areas. Check out the features of the new agreement on the University Libraries website.

The 2024-2025 Propel program is now accepting applications
The Office of the Vice President for Research is now accepting 2024-2025 Propel applications. Complete application packages are due by Monday, July 1, 2024. The Propel Research Mentorship Program is designed to support faculty members who are new to the federal grants application process or have had success in securing relatively small grant awards, and are ready to apply for an R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or a relatively large grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Program activities for the 2024-2025 Propel class will run from August 23, 2024 through May 2, 2025, and participants will submit their proposals no later than June 2025.
