She is interested in these as separate and intersecting areas of study. Dr. Brown-Smith was recently awarded a K01 award from the National Institute of Mental Health to study the impact of childhood trauma on aging with HIV, and to develop an intervention addressing childhood trauma with the aim of improving HIV treatment outcomes among middle-aged and older adults living with HIV.
