Artist is Elizabeth O’Neill Verner, an artist that has been dubbed “the best-known artist of South Carolina of the twentieth century.” She received her formal art education at what is known now as the Pennsylvania Academy of Art. The Verner studio still resides on Atlantic Street in Charleston, S.C., where she was raised. Decades after her death, her etchings, pastel drawings, and paintings are still widely loved.
