Pleicones was born in 1944 in Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated with his Bachelor’s from Wofford University in 1965, then completed his J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1968.
Pleicones was elected as Resident South Carolina Circuit Judge for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in 1991, and served from July 1, 1991 until March 23, 2000. Then, he was elected Chief Justice of South Carolina Supreme Court on May 27, 2015 and served from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.
