David Harper Means Plaque

David Harper Means, son of David Harper and Fannie Corry Means, was a true scholar, teacher and gentleman. He attended the Columbia Public Schools. He received undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina. While an infantry Captain he received a Silver Star.

Starting in 1949 he taught Property, Conflicts of Law and Jurisprudence at USC and was a visiting professor at New York University, Wayne State University, the University of Atlanta, Widener University and Washington University (St. Louis).

He was a University Chair Professor of Law (1972) and David W. Robinson Professor of Law (1977). He died March 24, 1987.

He was married to Frances Burnett from Belton and had two daughters, Frances Burnette A’Hern and Beverley Harper Roberts.
