With the creation of the Pro Bono Alumni Advisory Council we are tapping into an amazing resource and look forward to the participation of the new Council members. We thank the members of the inaugural group for their willingness to help the Pro Bono Program as plans are made for the future. For 28 years student leaders have been making a difference in SC; with the new Council on board we are now striving to have a greater impact in the next 28 years!
Description
Mission: To engage alumni in the advancement of the Pro Bono Program and the students who volunteer
Purpose: The purpose of this Council is to serve as a critical community champion of the Pro Bono Program. The members of the Council support the mission and goals of the Pro Bono Program by providing their professional expertise; their diverse perspectives; their connections to local, state and national resources, colleagues and peers; their ideas for local projects and in other forms of assistance as needed.
Reasons for creating the Alumni Advisory Council:
- Provides a means for involving alumni who are willing to provide critical assistance but have limited time
- Provides a way to connect alumni to the Pro Bono Program
- Energizes both alumni and students about the work of the Pro Bono Program
- Creates a direct link to important professional experience and expertise
- Provides an avenue of support for the Pro Bono Program during times of change
- Provide a valuable professional link between students and alumni who have a special interest in pro bono engagement
Expectations:
- Allow the Pro Bono Program to publicize their names and participation on the Council
- Attend any events and special gatherings
- Keep informed about plans, activities and needs of the Pro Bono Program
- Respond to specific requests for assistance in guidance when possible.
Structure:
- Initial Council members will be invited by the current Pro Bono Board
- Council members serve for a two year term, may be re-elected
- Future Council members may be added at the discretion of the current Council
- The Chair of the Council shall be elected by the current Council
- There will be a minimum of 10 slots and a maximum of 20 slots.
- The Council seeks to have a diverse membership drawing from but not limited to past Pro Bono Board members
- There shall be no remuneration for membership on the Council
