Walker Institute International Education Grants:  These awards allow faculty to add or enhance an international dimension of their teaching activities.  The scope of teaching activities includes all forms of interaction with students.  Typical uses of funds, for example, might consist of a curriculum development grant to add an international dimension to an existing course or to create a new course with an international theme; participation in international study tours, such as those organized by Fulbright or the Institute for International Education; or bringing to campus a distinguished visitor who will have substantial interaction with graduate and undergraduate students.  Preference will be given to proposals to develop new classes or modify existing ones, especially those regularly taught in the Global Studies or Cyber Intelligence majors and/or any of the area studies programs. Activities for which other funds are available on campus, such as leading study abroad classes, will be less competitive.  Maximum amount: $1,000.

Classroom Support

Recognizing that many of the institute's constituents, whether faculty or students, spend much of their time in classrooms, the Walker Institute will provide support for instructors to invite authors from assigned readings on syllabi into their classes virtually. The guest speaker will receive a $200 honorarium to be processed by the Walker Institute office. All other details of the virtual visit must be handled by the instructor or applicant. Preference will be given to international area studies and global studies themes.
