Cyber Policy & Ethics

  1.  Identify an internship relevant to your major. Visit the College of Arts and Sciences internship page for helpful leads on your search.
  2. Decide if you want to get credit for the internship, e.g., CYBR 498, CYBR 499, or GLST 490. The standard number of credit hours are 3 and you will be charged normal tuition for these credit hours. If you want to enroll for internship credit hours then:
    • Obtain a letter of offer with a description or list of duties that you will perform. You will need a supervisor name, email, mailing address, and phone number. Make sure that your supervisor at the internship knows that you must provide a written evaluation of your performance at the end of your work period. This evaluation is necessary in order to obtain a passing credit for the internship course.
    • Contact your advisor, Alan Marsee in Walker to enroll in CYBR or GLST internship hours. Your advisor will help you Initiate an Undergraduate Internship Contract. Click here to access.
    • Obtain signatures on the UIC from an (1) instructor of record (must be from the Walker Institute), (2) Director of the Walker Institute Carl Dahlman, and (3) Academic Advisor Alan Marsee.
    • Upload to the College of Arts and Sciences for signature. Access the form here.

Global Studies

  1. Enroll in the credit hours when they become available. Remind the internship workplace supervisor to send their written report to the instructor of record at the end of the work period/semester. This is the same week as the final exam.
  2. Fulfill and execute all contracted obligations at the end of the work period/semester. This usually includes a self-assessment or report by the student and is due no later than the end of exams.
