The Department of Political Science recently received two awards from McCausland Foundation programs formed from an endowment from UofSC alumnus Peter McCausland and his wife Bonnie McCausland, chairman and chief executive officer of the Pennsylvania-based company Airgas, Inc. Matthew Wilson received a McCausland Faculty Fellowship, which provides three-year support to early career faculty who show innovation in their research and teaching. The department also received support from the McCausland Visiting Scholars Program, which brings in scholars whose expertise can augment research in the department and courses offered the College of Arts and Sciences. This award allows the temporary appointment of Yoshiharu Kobayashi, Associate Professor in International Political Economy and Development at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). Dr. Kobayashi will spend part of the Spring 2022 semester at the Department of Political Science.
